I do some marketing work for a small children’s charity, which has a *very* small budget —
which makes it especially challenging…
They bring in most of their funding from vehicle donations.
I was wondering if any of the experts here have any ideas as to how to get in front of potential vehicle donors?
**Demographic:** Male and female, 45+, top 50% income
**What I do already:**
**-** Organic listing (top 3 – 5 for major keywords in a VERY competitive market)
**-** Adwords text ads (when they can afford it. Some success, 10/10 ad quality scores)…
**-** Craigslist (very little result)
**What we’ve tried:**
**-** Making deals with car dealers for the trade-ins they reject (they’re not keen on the idea)-
**-** Radio ads (results are not worth the cost)
**-** Newspaper ads: Used to work a bit, but readership has shrunk
**-** Flyers (little or no response — not targeted enough)
**Thank you in advance for any thoughts…**
Start building healthy habits that will change your life! Just as bad habits can harm you and set you back on your path, good habits can spring you forward – so, don’t let old habits hold you back. Most people associate habits with a boring routine or mundane ritual. But, these simple habits have the power to actually change your life. Yes, it won’t happen overnight. Experts say it takes 21 days of doing something new for it to become a habit. Being consistent will greatly reward you.
You already know that drinking enough water and getting sufficient sleep is important for your health. While exercising also elevates mood by boosting the production of endorphins – which are hormones that act as natural anti-depressants. But did you know that getting direct sunlight is just as important? Sunlight on our skin promotes vitamin D3 which is essential for hormone production and bone health. Take a few minutes a day and expose your face and arms to some sunshine.
Taking some time off to unwind can do wonders for your mood, mental health, and self-esteem. Do at things every day that make you feel good. Listen to music, learn a new skill, read books, journal, or watch something funny. Healthy habits that will change your life include regular social media detox. As hard it is, switch off your phone and laptop for a few hours every day to improve your mood, and reconnect with the world around you.
The Pareto’s Principle or the 80/20 rule, means that in any situation, 20% of the tasks yield 80% of the results. So maximize productivity by investing most of your time and energy on those specific tasks that will create the biggest impact. On the same note, try to single-task as much as possible – completing one task at a time, in order of importance.
If you’re already doing some of these simple habits… Great! You’re on the right track. But, maybe you’re not doing any of them. Well, today is the first day of the rest of your life, and you can start building healthy habits that will change your life.
Surely, you have some good habits. How do you motivate yourself to stick with them? Let us know!

I’m volunteering at a choir and trying to help find new sources of funding.
I was wondering what was the likelihood of businesses donating to us seeing how we’re a non profit, vs. trying to build up sponsorships. The only element of visibility we can really give is ad placement inside our show programs twice a year, with an audience of about 500 at eqch show. Of course, we can complement that with logos on our posters, verbal mention during the show, free performance, etc. but our exposure is so limited that I was wondering if just straight up asking for money would get us more than trying to sell these crappy sponsorships.
Also, any pointers as to how to approach potential businesses? I work in B2B marketing but fundraising is really quite different from what I’m used to doing. I was thinking of cold emailing or cold calling businesses but I feel like the effort won’t pay off. There’s got to be a better/more efficient way to raise funds?
